Letter from Roxey Roach to Nelle Stewart

DescriptionA 10-page letter with envelope (not shown) written by Roxey Roach to Nelle Stewart, September 29, 1911. It is handwritten, back-to-back, on 5 pages, on Eutaw House Hotel, Baltimore, MD letterhead. The top of the pages have the hotel name, city and state, and to the left it reads "Frank C. O'Brien, Prop." He writes to tell her that he thought their season would end here in Baltimore, but they are heading to Rochester to finish up, Monday and Tuesday. He writes he'll be in Frostburg on Wednesday. He tells her he has his dad with him and he isn't drinking out but it is still work. It spoiled his time there, his dad is still weak but will send him home from Baltimore. He has made arrangements to play in New York the following Saturday and Sunday, to make extra money. He tells her he has a $600.00 note against his mother's house and his mother will fix the will so he can own the property. He tells her how happy he is and it's important to always make each other happy. He signs it "Yours, most truly, Wilbur, xxxxxxx," his given name. The top left of the envelope reads "Eutaw House, Baltimore, MD, Frank C. O'Brien, Prop."
