DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of, from left to right, Ziggy Sears, Billy Jurges and Mel Ott. Jurges and Ott are walking towards Sears with angry expressions on their faces. Sears has a straight face. Both Ott and Jurges are dressed in New York Giants road uniforms. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph and states, "Mel Ott (right), New York Giants manager and outfielder, and Bill Jurges (center) protest banishment they got from Umpire Ziggy Sears in 4th inning of Giants-Boston Braves game yesterday after an argument over a close play at first. Giants lost, 5-4." Based on Ott and Jurges uniforms and their time with the Giants, this photograph was taken in approximately 1942.
