DescriptionA black-and-white group portrait photograph of Charles and Nan Comiskey and John and Blanche McGraw, among others, in front of the Sphinx. Comiskey, center, on camelback, wears a three piece suit, tie, and fedora. Facing the camera, looking forward, Comiskey rests his left hand on his thigh while holding onto the handle of the saddle with his right hand. To his left is his wife Nan, who, also sitting on a camel, looks forward to the camera. Wearing a dress and a hat with a veil, she rests both hands down by her sides. Center, below the Comiskeys, McGraw and his wife Blanche sit in a chariot. McGraw, wearing a flat cap, turns his head to his left, to look at a point to the right and in the distance of the camera. A young girl sits on his lap. Blanche, sitting closest to the camera, wears a dress, overcoat and hat. Also turning her head to her left, she looks to a point in the distance and to the right of the camera. Visible in the photograph are several others who are both on camel and horseback. Standing with the group are several Egyptian men in traditional clothing. Visible in the background of the photograph is the Sphinx and the Great Pyramids of Giza. Based on the location of the photograph, this image was captured around February 01, 1914, the date of the first game that members of the World Tour, organized by Comiskey and McGraw, played in Egypt.
