Mark McGwire helmet

Date1998
DescriptionRed plastic helmet, size 7 1/2, with proper left ear protection and a white "StL" team decal on the front and a "25" decal on the top of the bill. Rear center has several decals, including "25 / ABC / MLB." There are fabric-covered high-density foam pads at the interior of the ear protector and rear of the helmet. There is a circular high density foam pad at the interior top crown. There is evidence of low density foam underneath the high density foam of the ear protector and rear padding. It appears as though the low density foam was removed and the high density foam re-adhered to the shell. Interior sweatband is wrapped in black vinyl. "Authentic Diamond Collection" sticker is adhered at the interior proper left. There is a sizing information sticker at the interior front and a warning label at the interior proper right.
Bio/Historical NoteBatting helmet used by Mark McGwire of the St. Louis Cardinals during the 1998 season during which time he amassed a record-setting 70 home runs. This included his 62nd home run on September 8, 1998 versus the Cubs as well as his 70th and final home run on September 27, 1998 against Montreal. Both were home games.
