DescriptionA full-length color photograph of Don Mattingly running to base. Mattingly, shown in profile, wears a New York Yankees home uniform. Mattingly, wearing a helmet, batting gloves, and eye black looks over his front left shoulder. Supporting his weight on his bent right leg, Mattingly's left leg is lifted slight off the ground. Captured mid-action, Mattingly is in the process of running to first. Holding the handle of a bat in his right hand, Mattingly's left arm is bent at the elbow, resting by his side. Visible in the background are fellow teammates in the Yankee dugout and in the distance, an occupied stadium. In the bottom left corner is a Major League Baseball authentication sticker, with a 1996 copyright date. Based on the uniform worn by Mattingly this image was created between 1982 and 1989, and 1991 and 1995. During the 1990 season the Yankees wore the number one on the left sleeve of their home jerseys in remembrance of their former manager Billy Martin.
