DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Don Mattingly standing in uniform, holding a baseball glove. Mattingly, shown from the waist up, faces the camera while wearing a New York Yankees home uniform. Mattingly, holding the glove against his chest with both hands, looks to a point to the left of the camera. The plain, dark background and the even, flat lighting of the photograph indicate that it was captured indoors. Based on the uniform worn by Mattingly this image was created between 1982 and 1989, and 1991 and 1995. During the 1990 season the Yankees wore the number one on the left sleeve of their home jerseys in remembrance of their former manager Billy Martin.
