Kent Tekulve World Series cap

DescriptionBlack pillbox cap with three gold horizontal stripes and two rows of gold stars around the circumference of the cap. There is a gold embroidered "P" logo on the front. There are three gold stars on the top crown of the cap in a line from front to back. The star closest to the front of the cap is attached with straight pin. Underside of the bill is light gray with "-27-" handwritten in black ink. Interior white cloth sweatband has a manufacturer label in the rear center.

Bio/Historical NoteStarting in 1978, Pittsburgh's Willie Stargell awarded gold stars to teammates for stellar feats. Pitcher Kent Tekulve wore this much-adorned cap during the 1979 World Series. The Pirates defeated the Baltimore Orioles four games to three to win the 1979 World Series.
