Alston is shown from the knees up, wearing a St. Louis Cardinals away uniform. Part of the seating at Ebbets Field is visible in the background. There is a caption inscribed on the right side of the negative. The caption reads : "Alston 1B." The date of the negative was determined by examining the record of Alston's career and the details of Alston's uniform.
