DescriptionSculpture of cast bronze depicting a baseball player in a batting stance with his bat pointing back, horizontal to ground. Player is wearing a "Twins" helmet and uniform with "29" on the back and a cap folded in a rear pocket. Figure is mounted on a stepped black granite base. Artist's signature and edition number are on the top surface of the granite, "Bill Mack 5/195." Bottom of granite is lined with black felt.

Bio/Historical NoteMaquette statue depicting Rod Carew, created as the model for the life-sized sculpture commissioned for Minnesota Twins Target Field. This statue was #5 of 205 made. The original model was given to the player and subsequent models were cast for "limited edition" distribution sales.
