Honus Wagner Coach photograph
Dateprobably 1948
DescriptionA black-and-white, full length, photograph of Honus Wagner captured standing in the Pittsburgh Pirates dugout. Wagner's back is to the camera as he looks onto the field. Wagner is dressed in the Pittsburgh Pirates home uniform, and his jersey has the number 33 on the back. An unidentified player is visible on the field and an occupied is in the background. A clipping on the back of the photograph (not shown) states, "WHO IS HE? ... The old time baseball fan needs no identification of this diamond immortal, photographed as he stands looking out of Forbes Field dugout. Just to satisfy the curiosity of the younger fans, it's HONUS WAGNER now Pittsburgh scout and coach." The date May 5, 1948 is also stamped on the back of the photograph. Based on this information and his career with the Pirates, this image was probably taken in 1948.
