DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Nellie Fox captured sitting in a classroom at the high school he once attended. Fox is smiling while seated a desk and Tom Pittman who is sitting in front of him has turned around and they are reviewing material in a textbook. Several unidentified students are seated throughout the classroom. The caption on the back of the photograph (not shown) states, "A hometown boy at heart, in St. Thomas, where he's idolized by the youngsters. Drinking in every word the big league star has to say is student Tom Pittman, 15... 12/5/59." Based on the caption, this photograph was taken in December 1959.
