DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of, from left to right, Sam Chapman, Bob Feller, Freddie Hutchinson, and Ace Parker of the Norfolk Naval Training Station baseball team, taken on April 3, 1942. All four wear Norfolk uniforms and are turned towards the center of the group smiling and talking. A caption on the back (not shown) reads, "Steller Quarter - Norfolk, VA.--Four of the big names of the sports world who are now in training at the Norfolk Naval Training Station line up to face the University of Richmond in a baseball game at Norfolk. L. to R.: Sam Chapman, former Cleveland Indians player; Bob Feller, fireball hurler who hails from the same club; Freddie Hutchinson, pitcher who is owned by the Detroit Tigers; and "Ace" Parker, Brooklyn Dodgers grid star who pitches a bit of baseball, too. Feller pitched the first three innings of the game with Richmond and Hutchinson took over for the next three. The Training Station team won, 13-1. 4/4/42"
