Turning his head to his left, Alexander looks forward to the camera establishing eye contact. Pasted on the reverse (not shown), a caption reads, "OLD PETE DEAD Grover Cleveland Alexander (above), one-time star major league baseball pitcher, was found dead in his room in St. Paul, Neb., Nov. 4. The 63-year-old mound master had been in failing health in recent years. 11/4/50."
