DescriptionA black-and-white full-length photograph of Grover Cleveland Alexander reading a newspaper outside. Wearing dress pants, a dress shirt and tie, and a fedora, Alexander sits with his left leg crossed over right in a deck chair. He looks down to the newspaper in his lap. On a rooftop, several buildings are visible in the background. Pasted on the reverse (not shown), a caption reads, "SUFFERS MILD STROKE Grover Cleveland Alexander, the St. Louis Cardinals' 'Ol Peter of twenty-five years ago, suns himself atop his Hollywood Apartment Oct. 31. He collapsed in a drug store the previous day and was treated for a mild stroke. He is 62."
