Jimmy Collins Standing in Uniform photograph

Date1902
DescriptionA full-length black-and-white photograph of Jimmy Collins standing in uniform. Collins, facing the camera, wears a Boston Americans home uniform. Standing with feet apart, with his left hand on his hip, Collins leans to his right. Holding onto the knob of a baseball bat with his right hand, that is down by his side, placing the end cap of the bat on the ground, Collins rests the bat against his right leg. Looking forward, Collins establishes eye contact with the camera. Based on the specific design of the uniform worn by Collins, this image was captured in 1902, the sole year the Boston Americans wore jerseys with the team's initials and striped hats. Collins' hat and portions of the background have been painted over. Several facial features and parts of Collins' uniform have been enhanced to appear more legible for publication. Stamped on the reverse (not shown), in black ink, are the phrases, "LAST TIME USED SEP 18 1928," and "RECEIVED EB 14 1928."
