DescriptionA black-and-white half-length photograph of Jimmy Dykes signing a contract with Mrs. Grace Comiskey and her daughter, Dorothy. Dykes, right, shown from the waist up, wears a pinstripe suit and tie. Placing both hands on the table in front of him, Dykes rests his left hand on the contract while signing with his right. Looking forward and down, Dykes directs his attention to the document in front of him. Center, Dorothy, also wearing a suit, stands between Dykes and her mother. Leaning forward, looking down, she directs her attention to the contract as well. Grace, left, wearing a dress shirt and blazer, shown from the waist up, is depicted in 3/4 profile. Resting her right hand on the table in front of her, Grace turns her head to her left, in the direction of Dykes. Pasted on the reverse (not shown), a caption, typed in black ink, reads, "DYKES SIGNS FOR THREE MORE YEARS IN TH(...) (...)RESENCE OF MRS. GRACE COMISKEY (LEFT), PRESIDENT OF THE CLUB, AND HER DAUGHTER, DOROTHY (CENTER), TREASURER, JIMMY SYKES AUGUST 13 SIGNED A CONTRACT TO MANAGE THE CHICAGO WHITE SOX FOR THREE MORE YEARS. "OH, YES, HE GOT A RAISE IN THE SALARY," MRS. COMISKEY TOLD NEWSMEN AT THE CHICAGO GATHERING. 8/14/41." Stamped on the reverse (not shown), in red ink, is the phrase, "RECEIVED AUG 14 1941." Stamped as well on the reverse (not shown), in black ink, is the date, "AUG 13 194-."
