DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Bob Feller and his wife Virginia Winther on their wedding day. Feller, wearing a suit, occupies the center of the photograph. Shown from the knees up, Feller stands facing the camera while tilting his head and smiling to his left to make eye contact with someone who is out of frame. Feller stands behind both his wife and the pastor of the church. Based on the flat lighting and background of the photo, it was taken indoors, probably within the church in which they were married. The photo has been modified, as seen in the enhanced outline of Feller's head and the details of his suit, for publication. Pasted on the reverse is a caption (not shown) that reads, "CLEVELAND STAR PITCHER WEDS WAUKEGAN GIRL WAUKEGAN, ILL.,- MISS VIRGINIA WINTHERS OF WAUKEGAN, ILL., AND CHIEF SPECIALIST ROBERT WILLIAM FELLER,U.S.N.,BETTER KNOWN IN THE BASEBALL WORLD AS BOB FELLER, STAR HURLER FOR THE CLEVELAND INDIANS, WERE MARRIED THIS EVENING IN THE FIRST METHODIST CHURCH OF WAUKEGAN THIS PICTURE MADE SHORTLY AFTER THE CEREMONY SHOWS, LEFT TO RIGHT, MISS BETTY JANE WINTHERS, THE BRIDES SISTER WHO WAS THE MAID OF HONOR.
