Babe Ruth Golfing photograph

Date1934 February 12
DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Babe Ruth golfing. The caption (not shown) reads "Apparently unaware that he ever was ill, Babe Ruth visited the links of the jungle club at a St. Petersburg, Fla., shortly after his arrival from New York recently, and began to do things in his own inimitable way. The home-run king, who is shown sharpening his bunting eye by sinking a short putt, revived sufficiently a little later to score a double eagle on the 471-yard, Par 5, 17th hole. The Babe's combination was a 250-yard drive and a 220-yard no. 1 iron wallop. The iron shot, played with a fairly heavy cross wind as an added handicap, hit several yards in front of the cup and ran unerringly into the hole. Not bad for an invalid." According to the caption, this was taken February 12, 1934.
