DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Honus Wagner captured beside his wife Mrs. Bessie Baine Wagner in the kitchen while she is prepping a turkey for dinner. Wagner and Bessie look affectionately and smile at one another. Wagner is dressed in a formal shirt and bow tie, whereas Bessie is wearing a dark colored dress with an apron over it. In the background a calendar hangs on the wall. The caption on the back of the photograph states, "Honus Wagner, baseball's 'Flying Dutchman,' aids his wife, Bessie, Feb. 23, as she prepares a turkey in their Pittsburgh, PA. home. Honus observed his 74th birthday anniversary, Feb. 24." Based on this caption, this photograph was taken on February 23,1948.
