DescriptionA black-and-white full length photograph of Sandy Koufax in a Los Angeles Dodgers road uniform walking off the baseball field and shaking hands with Dodgers manager Walter Alston who has his back to the camera on August 8, 1961. In the background can be seen the full grandstand of Wrigley Field. The caption on the side (not shown) reads, "8/29/61-CHICACO: Los Angeles Dodgers manager Walt Alston (24) is the first to congratulate Dodgers' pitcher Sandy Koufax as he comes off the mound after Dodgers beat Cubs, 2-1. Koufax allowed only two hits and struck out 12 Chicago batters to increase his season total to 212, third highest by a lefthander in modern National League history."
