BiographyJohn Cassidy was a rightfielder, pitcher, and first baseman in the National Association, 1875, National League, 1876-1883, and American Association in 1884-1885. He also filled in as an umpire in all three leagues, one game per league. In 1886, he became a politician and was elected to the Brooklyn Democratic General Committee. In 1887, it was said he was in business and no longer pursuing a baseball career.
