DescriptionA United States passport issued to Morris Berg, with a renewed date of September 15, 1934 and expiration date of September 6, 1936. It has a red leather cover with some wear on the spine. The top has a cutout which shows the passport number, 552866, on page 1. The front cover has the United States emblem in the center with the word "Passport" above it and "United States of America" below it. The front and back covers have the word "Canceled" pin holed on them. The passport includes Berg's address, birth location, date, height, hair, skin color, and a small sepia head-and-shoulders photo. The passport's 32 pages (not shown) are stamped from countries worldwide. An accompanying letter was written by the Department of State dated October 6, 1934 with an illegible signature. It has the Department of State logo in the upper left corner and is to "The American Diplomatic and Consular Officers." It states that Moe Berg is about to proceed abroad and "cordially bespeak for Mr. Berg such courtesies and assistance as you may be able to render, consistently with your official duties." The back of the passport (also not shown) is blank.
