DescriptionCircular bronze medal with a raised depiction of a seated adult with four children on the front. Three of the children appear to be reading while the fourth is showing the adult a book. Adult's left arm is raised slightly. There is a ship in the background along with tree trunks, branches and steps near the bottom. "Daniel Dupuis" in raised lettering along the bottom edge. Other side of the medal has "Alliance Française" along the top edge with an open book with leaves in the background. "Morris Berg / June 1918" is inscribed into the open book's center. "Daniel-Dupuis" in raised lettering along the bottom edge. "Bronze" is stamped into the bottom side edge of the medal.
Bio/Historical NoteAn excellent student, the 16-year-old Berg earned this bronze medal for proficiency in French from the Alliance Française while attending Newark's Barringer High School in June 1918.
