DescriptionRectangular maroon cardboard box with associated lid. Label on top of the lid shows an Egyptian-inspired scene with "Murad," "Turkish Cigarettes," and "S. Anargyros / A Corporation" in black and red lettering. This top label extends down over the left and right sides of the lid and also onto the bottom of the box. There is information on the factory that produced the cigarettes and a warning notice on the bottom of the box. Interior underside of the top lid has black and red lettering reading "Murad / Turkish Cigarettes / Are Made Especially For The Discriminating And Experienced / Smoker Of High Grade / Turkish Cigarettes / The Blending Is Exceptional." Top side of the lid and top side of the box have remnants of the tax revenue stamp.
Bio/Historical NoteEmpty Murad cigarette box. In the early 1900s, tobacco companies produced sports cards, especially baseball cards, as a way of promoting their brands.
