Helmar cigarette box

DescriptionRectangular dark teal cardboard box with associated lid. Label on top of the lid shows an Egyptian pharaoh in profile and Egyptian-inspired artwork with "Helmar" and "Turkish Cigarettes" in white lettering. This top label extends down over the left side of the lid and is also on the bottom of the box and left side. There is information on the factory that produced the cigarettes and a warning notice on the bottom of the box. Interior underside of the top lid has green and red lettering reading "Helmar / Turkish Cigarettes / Made Only Of Carefully / Cured Perfectly Handled / Turkish Leaf, Pure, Ripe & / Mellow Blended After Years / Of Careful Experiment / To Produce A Uniformly Mile / Full Flavor & Fragrance" and "S. Anargyros."

Bio/Historical NoteEmpty Helmar cigarette box. In the early 1900s, tobacco companies produced sports cards, especially baseball cards, as a way of promoting their brands.
