DescriptionA black-and-white photograph, from left to right, of Jimmy Dykes, Connie Mack and Arthur Ehler captured standing amongst one another after Mack made a large announcement that he was retiring. Mack had served as the manager of the Philadelphia Athletics from 1901-1950. Mack is looking down and has his hand on Dykes' shoulder. Dykes replaced Mack as manager of the Athletics. The three gentlemen are dressed in suits and all have small smiles on their faces. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) (not shown) and states, "'It's Your Club Now, Boy' Connie Mack (center), baseball's 'Grand Old Man,' huddles with Jimmy Dykes (left) and Arthur Ehlers after announcing his retirement as manager of the Philadelphia Athletics at a luncheon in Philadelphia Oct. 18. Dykes succeeds Mack and Ehlers, former director of the A's farm club system, will become the club's general manager. 10/18/50." Based on the newspaper clipping this photograph was taken on October 18, 1950.
