Mack is dressed in a suit and overcoat, whereas Schantz is dressed in a Philadelphia Athletics uniform. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) (not shown) and states, "Connie Mack in his fiftieth year in baseball keeps modern with the installation of radiant glass heating panels in the A's dugout. He is shown here with southpaw Bobby Shantz making use of the infra-red rays to counteract spring chills." Based on the caption this photograph was taken around 1949.
