DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Lefty Grove, right, and Connie Mack, left, captured standing side by side in front of a dugout. Mack is dressed in a suit and has a smile on his face. Grove has his hand placed on his knee and is looking forward with a slight smile on his face. Grove is dressed in a Philadelphia Athletics road uniform. A newspaper caption affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) states, "Rube Waddell? - Yes, a great southpaw back in the early 1900s. But the old Master has just as good in 'Lefty' Grove, the star of this year's team. That's the beauty of Mack. The older he grows, the better he gets." Based on Grove's uniform and his time with the Athletics, this photograph was probably taken in 1928.
