Mack is looking down at the cake and is dressed in a suit. A banner on the cake states, "Happy Birthday." A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) (not shown) and states, "Connie Mack Celebrates 85th Birthday Philadelphia: Connie Mack, manager of the Philadelphia Athletics, blows out the candles on his birthday cake, at a celebration in Philadelphia Dec. 23rd. The grand old man of baseball is 85 years old.12-23-47." Based on the newspaper clipping this photograph was taken on December 23, 1947.
