DescriptionA black-and-white full-length action photograph of Frank Chance throwing the ball. Depicted in 3/4 profile, Chance wears a Chicago Cubs road uniform. Having just thrown the ball, Chance supports his weight on his left leg, resting the toe of his right shoe on the ground. Holding his right arm across his body chest height, Chance's gloved left hand is down by his side. He looks forward to a point in the distance and to the left of the camera. Captured on the field, a partially occupied stadium is visible in the background. Based on the specific design of the uniform worn by Chance, this image was taken in 1909, the sole year the Cubs wore jerseys with blue bands on the sleeves and down the buttons.
