DescriptionA black-and-white copy print of a full-length line drawing of Frank Chance by Gerry Gersten. Chance wears a 1910 Chicago Cubs road uniform. Having just thrown the ball, Chance stands on his left leg with his bent right leg off the ground. Rotating his upper body to his left, Chance extends his right arm across his body waist height. He holds his gloved left hand down by his side. Chance looks forward to a point in the distance and to the left. The artist's signature is visible to the right of Chance's supporting leg. A caption pasted on the reverse (not shown), typed in black ink, reads, "ORIGINAL DRAWING of Chicago Cubs star Frank Chance was presented August 20th on behalf of J.P. Stevens & Co., Inc.. The pencil portrait was created in 1962 in connection with a 'manly arts' series of advertisements promoting the textile firm's line of mens wear fabrics."
