DescriptionA black-and-white full-length action photograph of Frank Chance throwing the ball. Chance, shown in 3/4 profile, wears a New York Yankees road uniform. Having just thrown the ball, Chance stands on his straight, front left leg, while resting only the toe of his right shoe on the ground. Rotating his upper body to his left, Chance extends his right arm across his body chest height. He holds his gloved left hand waist height on his left side. Chance looks forward to a point in the distance and to the left of the camera. Captured on the field, several bases and the outfield wall can be seen. This photograph has been heavily modified for publication, a portion of the original background is missing and the frame around Chance indicates where the image is to be cropped for publication. Based on the specific design of the uniform worn by Chance and his career with the team, this image was taken during the 1913 or 1914 season.
