DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Lefty Grove captured after releasing a pitch while warming up on the sideline of a baseball field. Grove is looking over his left shoulder with a small smile on his face. His left arm is extended out in front of him. Grove is dressed in a Philadelphia Athletics road uniform. Several baseball fans are visible in the background in an unidentified stadium. A newspaper caption affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) states, "Lefty Grove...Charley Grimm. Other mound in news today are Charley Ruffing of Yankees and Lefty Grove of Red Sox. They are rivals in Boston." Based on Grove's uniform and his time with the Athletics, this photograph was taken between 1931 and 1933.
