The caption on the back of the photograph (not shown) states, "Introducing Melvin Ott, sensational... outfielder of the Giants who now leads the... home run derby. He crashed N0. 21 at the Polo Grounds yesterday against the Robins, and now...Lou Gehrig, of Yanks, one..." Based on Ott's uniform and his time with the Giants this photograph was taken in either 1926 or 1927.
