Bio/Historical NoteCy Young pitched this baseball for the Boston Americans (today known as the Red Sox) in the very first game in modern World Series history on October 1, 1903. This baseball was then used in the first four innings of the game. The Series ran from October 1st to October 13th, with the Boston American defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-3.
