DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Mel Ott of the New York Giants captured as he crosses home plate. Ott is heading towards a teammate, who is probably Babe Young, to slap hands after scoring the run. Young is captured holding a baseball bat in his left hand and is sticking his right hand out to greet Ott. An unidentified catcher is standing with his hands on his hips behind home plate. An unidentified umpire is walking towards home plate to brush it off. Ott and Young are dressed in New York Giants home uniforms. This game was played at the Polo Grounds in New York, N.Y. Based on Ott's uniform and his time with the Giants, this photograph was probably taken in 1942.
