DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Charlie Gehringer, left, and Red Rolfe, right captured talking in the dugout at Yankee Stadium during a Detroit Tigers vs New York Yankees game on August 2, 1951. Gehringer has one foot rested on a ledge with his left hand touching his right wrist while smiling and looking up. Rolfe has his hand resting against the top of the dugout and is looking at Gehringer while talking. Rolfe is dressed in the Detroit Tigers road uniform whereas Gehringer is dressed in a suit. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph and states, "Charley Gehringer (left), new general manager of the Detroit Tigers, chats with Red Rolfe, Tigers' field manager in club's dugout at Yankee Stadium, New York City, Aug. 2, before Detroit - New York afternoon game. The Detroit Tigers beat the New York Yankees 6-0.
