DescriptionWhite wool uniform shirt with three-quarter length sleeves with button holes for sleeve attachments. Shirt has a collar and partial front placket ending in a point with four white buttons. Interior neck has a black "A.G. Spalding & Bros." label and a small white patch with "Walton" handwritten in black ink. There is a faint outline of an uppercase "N" and "Y" on the proper right and left chest respectively, although no stitch marks are evident.
Bio/Historical NoteUniform shirt worn by Christy Mathewson of the New York Giants during the 1904 and 1905 seasons. Based on the outline of the lettering on the chest and the vintage of the "Spalding" manufacturers label, this shirt is consistent with the New York Giants uniforms of this time period.
