DescriptionGray wool uniform shirt with seven buttons down the front placket. Blue double-stripe piping around the sleeves, neck and continuing down the front placket. There are blue felt applique letters across the front chest, "National League." "C. Hafey" is embroidered in script lettering at the interior back of the neck next to the manufacturer tag. There is a blue felt "6" appliqued on the reverse.
Bio/Historical NoteNational League uniform shirt worn by Chick Hafey of the Cincinnati Reds during the first Major League Baseball All-Star Game held on July 6, 1933 at Comiskey Park in Chicago. National League players wore this uniform, while American League players each wore their home uniforms. The next year, National League players wore their home uniforms for the All-Star Game as well. Hafey recorded the first hit of the game. Despite this effort, the American League defeated the National League 4-2. Chick Hafey was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1971 by the Veterans Committee.
