Heinie Groh Autographed bat

Datebetween 1916 and 1922
DescriptionDark brown stain wooden bat, 40 ounces, with "Hillerich & Bradsby / 125 / Louisville Slugger" in the center of the barrel and "Heinie Groh (facsimile signature) / Trade Mark" near the end of the barrel. Underside of the barrel has been autographed in black ink. Bat has a unique shape as the handle is much thinner than the barrel with the taper being more pronounced in comparison to the barrel.
Bio/Historical NoteBat used by Heinie Groh while a member of the Cincinnati Reds. Groh was one of the best National League third basemen of the Deadball Era and a lifetime .292 hitter. He played with the New York Giants (1912-13, 1922-26), Cincinnati Reds (1913-21), and Pittsburgh Pirates (1927). Groh was famed for using this strange "bottle bat," this particular model manufactured around 100 years ago, sometime between 1916 and 1922.
