DescriptionOff-white shirt, size 44, with red piping around the sleeves, neck and down the front placket. There are seven white buttons down the front placket. Front chest has "Red Sox" in red and navy blue felt appliques. "J Foxx" is embroidered in red at the interior back of the neck above the "Spalding" manufacturer label. "38" is embroidered in red on the interior reverse of the shirt near the bottom center. It is partially covered on the interior by a white sewn patch. Reverse of the shirt has "3" in red and navy blue felt appliques.
Bio/Historical NoteShirt worn by Jimmie Foxx of the Boston Red Sox as a first baseman in 1938. That season, Foxx was American League MVP. He also led the league in batting average and RBIs. Foxx walked six times in a game that June against the St. Louis Browns, setting an American League record. Foxx was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1951.
