Lefty Grove shirt

DescriptionGray wool shirt, size 46, with seven light brown buttons down the front placket and "Boston" in blue felt appliques across the front chest. Interior back of the neck has a "Spalding" manufacturer label. "R. Grove" is embroidered in red above this label. There is a sizing label to the right of the manufacturer label. Reverse of the shirt has "10" in navy blue felt appliques in the center as well as "38" embroidered on the interior bottom center of the shirt. Underarms are elastic knit cotton.
Bio/Historical NoteBoston Red Sox shirt worn by Lefty Grove in 1938. That year Grove pitched a 14-4 season with the Red Sox, leading the league in W-L percentage. He led the American League in ERA nine times and has the eighth best winning percentage record of all time. Grove was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1947.
