Bob Allison World Series glove

Date1965 October 06-14
DescriptionLeather left-handed fielder's glove, A2001 Wilson model, with metal grommets along the base of the palm. The palm side of the glove is made of one piece of leather. Leather laces are sewn through the middle of the thumb and pinkie finger. They also line the heel of the palm and run from between the ring and pinkie finger to the base of the pinkie. Leather laces connect the webbing to the glove between the thumb and index finger. Laces are also sewn in crisscross patterns to connect each finger to each other. "Grip-Tite Pocket" is inscribed at the base of the webbing between the thumb and index finger in cursive script. "Pro Model" is also written in cursive in the central pocket with a shooting star underlining. "Snap Action" in cursive is inscribed between the leather laces at the base of the pinkie. "A2001" "Wilson" and "MADE IN USA" are all written at the base of the palm. The backside of the glove is separated into multiple sections of leather for each finger and the lower strap. There are seams up the middle of each finger and in between. A leather lace is sewn up the pinkie finger. There are four leather knots on the pinkie. A lace also lines the thumb which has four leather knots. Two leather knots attach the webbing to the top of hand between the thumb and index finger. The number "4" is written on the glove in black marker in four different locations - the base of the pinkie, the top of the middle finger, the base of the thumb, and on the back of the webbing. There are several etchings into the leather. The following is written on the back of the pinkie in successive lines, "PAT. NO. 2231204," "CANADA,“ 398340-1941," "LICENSED UNDER," and "U.S. PAT. NO. 272XXXX." (the last four numbers are too faded to read). On the thumb ""The A2001" and "MADE IN USA" is written inside a circle near the base of the thumb. "Nylon Stitched" is written in cursive script on the lower strap. "HOLD TITE STRAP" is etched at the base of the pinkie near the edge of the strap. There is a circular tag on the lower strap, black with gold stitching. The strap is secured with a leather knot.
