Connie Mack dual photograph

Date1956
DescriptionTwo black-and-white photographs of Philadelphia Athletics manager Connie Mack (left) and Connie Mack with John McGraw (right). The caption below the photograph (not shown) reads,"Philadelphia: A nation of baseball fans, from President Eisenhower to the spectators who once cheered the world champion Philadelphia Athletics, mourned 2/9 the passing of Connie Mack. Mack, 93, whose baseball fortunes plummeted from the dizzy heights of World Series victory 25 years ago to the depths of despair when his club was sold 15 months ago, died 2/8 at the home of a daughter here. At left Mack is shown in 1950 as he donned an A's uniform and catcher's mitt. At right Connie and John McGraw (r) represent their leagues at the first All-Star game in Chicago in 1933." 1956 represents the publication date of this composite image, the date when these two previous photographs were assembled.
