DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Connie Mack as he exits the visitors' dugout at Yankee Stadium to be honored on Connie Mack Day on August 21, 1949. Mack is dressed in a suit and has a smile on his face. Yankee stadium is visible in the background with the stadium seating filled with fans. The Philadelphia Athletics team are in the dugout in the background. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) (not shown) and states, "Connie Mack, 86, tall, thin, kindly manager of the Philadelphia Athletics, emerges from the dugout to be introduced to crowd of 65,000 gathered in Yankee Stadium, New York, Aug. 21, as he is honored for his 'long and notorious service to baseball.' Behind him are stars of the Athletics of years ago and members of the present-day team. Ceremony preceded game between the Yankees and Athletics." The Athletics beat the Yankees 8-7 during this game. The creation date of this photograph is based on the included caption.
