DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Connie Mack captured as he demonstrates the proper bunting technique for Philadelphia Athletics players during spring training prior to the start of the 1941 season. The players, from left to right are, Nels Potter, John McCollum, Herman Besse, John Leovich, and Bill Beckmann. The players are dressed in the Philadelphia Athletics road uniform. The players are bent down with their hands on their knees and Beckmann has the ball in his hand as he is about to toss it towards Mack. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) (not shown) and states, "A's manager Begins 57th Year In Baseball Connie Mack, 73-year-old manager of the Philadelphia Athletics engages in a little bunting practice with (L to R): Nelson Potter, John McCollum, Herman Besse, John Leovich and William Beckman. The A's are in spring training here.2-27-41." Based on the newspaper clipping this photograph was taken on February 27, 1941.
