DescriptionDark blue plastic batting helmet, size 7 1/8, with a team logo decal on the front. There are black, white and teal decal stickers at the rear center, "30," along with an MLB logo. Interior has padding around the perimeter sweatband, at the top crown and rear center.
Bio/Historical NoteBatting helmet worn by Florida Marlins' Tim Raines in 2002. Raines retired at the end of the 2002 season. He was the last player in the Major Leagues to wear a batting helmet without ear protection. Raines began his Major League career in 1979. The ear protection rule was instituted in 1983 at the beginning of the championship season. An exception was made for players who were in the Major Leagues during the 1982 season, and who submitted a written request to use a helmet without ear protection.
