Tony Gwynn Batting slide
Date1995
DescriptionA full-length action color image of Tony Gwynn batting. Gwynn, shown in 3/4 profile, wears a helmet, batting gloves, and a San Diego Padres road uniform, with a 1995 All-Star Game patch visible on the left sleeve of his jersey. Captured mid-swing, Gwynn supports his weight between his straight, front right leg, and his bent, back left leg, with only the toe of his left cleat touching the ground. Carrying the momentum of his swing, Gwynn rotates his upper body to his right. Placing left hand over right on the grip of the bat, Gwynn holds the bat in front of his body chest height, angled backwards, towards his left shoulder. Gwynn looks forward, to a point in the distance and to the right of the camera, following the trajectory of the ball. Visible to the left of Gwynn is the catcher, in his characteristic position. Captured in-game, an occupied stadium is visible in the background. The creation date of this image was provided by the donor.
