Roger Bresnahan Catching photograph

Datebetween 1902 and 1905
DescriptionA black-and-white full-length posed photograph of Roger Bresnahan catching. Facing the camera, Bresnahan wears a face mask, chest protector, and most probably, a New York Giants uniform. Standing with feet apart, leaning forward, Bresnahan holds both hand in front of his body chest height. Bresnahan wears a mitt on his back left hand. Bresnahan turns his head to his right, to look at a point in the distance and to the right of the camera. A caption below the image (not shown), typed in black ink, reads, "ROGER BRESNAHAN Backstop of the New York Nationals who is Playing a Splendid Game, and He is Warming the Ball Well Around the .300 Mark." Based on the style of uniform worn by Bresnahan, this image was captured between 1902, his first year with the team, and 1905, the final year New York wore collared jerseys.
