Roger Bresnahan Standing in Uniform photograph

Datebetween 1902 and 1905
DescriptionA full-length black-and-white photograph of Roger Bresnahan standing in uniform, wearing a chest protector. Standing with feet apart and hands down by his sides, Bresnahan wears most probably a New York Giants uniform. Bresnahan wears a catcher's mitt on his left hand while holding a face mask in his right. Looking forward and to his right, Bresnahan directs his gaze to a point in the distance and to the left of the camera. Visible in the lower left of the photograph is a caption, typed in black ink, that reads, "ROGER BRESNAHAN St. Louis National League." Based on the style of uniform worn by Bresnahan, a collared jersey and solid color socks, and other images of Bresnahan captured during the same period, this image was taken between 1902, his first year with New York, and 1905, the final year the team wore this style.
